Stephen Collins Foster (1826-1864) was an American composer and probably the best-known songwriter of the time. Many of his compositions – above all: Camptown Races, Oh Susanna, Swanee River and Beautiful Dreamer – are still known today and are an integral part of the US-American culture.
The tones of the melodies were prepared with simple symbols, the rhythm of the tones is given by the classical music notation.
The sounds of the songs are available online in a sound player with adjustable playback speed – web address and access data in the book.
